About
Dr. Kristi Cassleman is an adult psychiatrist who is board-certified by the American Board of Psychiatry and Neurology, and currently works as a PRN staff psychiatrist for Riverside Mental Health and Recover Center in Hampton, VA. She obtained her medical degree in Osteopathic Medicine at Touro University and began her psychiatric training as an intern at the National Naval Medical Center (NNMC). She continued at NNMC for her residency, during which time there was a large focus on the complex interactions of past trauma, TBI (traumatic brain injury), and resulting psychological health conditions. She completed residency at the Walter Reed National Military Medical Center.
Following residency, she was assigned as the sole psychiatric internist at the US Naval Hospital, Okinawa, Japan, where she served for 3 years. This experience allowed her to further develop skills in treating patients with complex mood disorders involving major life transitions within varied treatment settings. She enjoys working with patients of all ages and emphasizes the use of education of patients, families, and support members within her treatment modalities.
